Weighing in at 30 lbs and pumping out over 50 watts per channel this Sanyo was a real sleeper!
Boasting a total 240W at 8 ohms over an impressive frequency response from 7Hz to 50,000 Hz, this beauty belies it's diminutive front panel. Sanyo designed the JCX 2400K with a footprint almost as deep as it is wide, for those whose ears are bigger than their shelf!
While the manual does state this
receiver
has a "Music Power Rating" of 240 Watts
@ 8Ω, it does give a more reasonable "Continuous Power" rating of 110
Watts, or 55
W/Ch
into 8 ohms
with both channels fully driven.
Remember, these are what audiophiles call "Vintage Watts," from an era where, unlike today, it was a sin to manipulate or elaborate the power ratings!
This classic receiver has two speaker zones and a
1/4"
headphone jack on the front panel. The tuning dial is complemented with a Stereo indicator lamp with both Signal & Tuning meters. There are switches for both High Filter, Loudness, Muting, Stereo
Mode
and Tape Monitors.
The
rear panel offers
an Aux Input, two Tape Loops, and Phono Input,
along
with
a grounding post
for your turntable! It also has rear-panel access to the protection fuses, a built-in AM antenna and two AC outlets, switched & unswitched
. It weighs in at 30 lbs and measures 16" x 5-5/8"

Condition:
This vintage receiver is great condition with
a
nice,
bright dial! Aside from some scuffs to the veneer, there are a some scratches along the bottom of the front panel that can be seen in the pics. There is also a ding the lower-left corner that was a little difficult to see in the pics, so we have added a few close-ups for you. Of course this doesn't affect performance, still we have recuced the price to reflect these cosmetic issues. which means YOU SAVE!
All the knobs are present & complete,
as are the feet and attached AC cord. Please do inspect all the pictures thoroughly for actual condition.
Service:
On inspection, this unit did have some scratchy controls and a few indicator lamp were out, so it went to our tech for the usual servicing. The
incandescents
were replaced and a
ll the switches & pots were
cleaned
internally with Specialist Contact Cleaner (proven superior to DeoxIT by our customers)
to assure trouble-free
operation
for years to come.
As long as it was open the PC boards were inspected, all questionable solder joints were re-flowed
and all caps were inspected for signs of bloating or leakage.
Testing:
After servicing,
we set it up on our test bench and it did not disappoint, both channels drove our speakers with the powerful, warm, distortion-free signal these analog receivers are known for.
All inputs and features were confirmed operational
and the tuner spins smoothly. Even though we are in a remote area it was
able to pull in all our local FM stations with the included wire antenna, centering the tuning meter and lighting the Stereo lamp.
What a great find for the vintage audiophile!
