Description
Vintage Singer Sewing MachineSews beautifully and is very quiet.
Please look at photo of stitches with front
in one line and the reverse in another line.
In very good cosmetic condition.
The
Serial number AH168340 was one of 10000
as of July 1947.
This machine is a model 128 which is 3/4 the
size of a regular machine like at 15 or 66.
It weighs about 22 lbs. which is less than full size.
The foot pedal, motor and light have excellent
wiring in good condition.
Foot pedal is also crinkle finish.
The bent wood case is in good condition with
tiny paint flecks on top.
I waxed it to preserve the wood.
The lock is present but it won't unlock. It locks with
a small screwdriver but will not UNLOCK.
Please DO NOT LOCK in place. I tested it away from the
base. It DOES NOT UNLOCK.
The finish is called crinkle or blackside or Godzilla.
It reminds me of velvet since its not a smooth finish.
During 1941 to 1953 Singer occasionally produced
what are known as "blackside" models. Many of the
normally bright plated parts have a chemically
blacked finish instead. This may have been due to
a shortage of nickel and chromium.
Singer only produced limited runs of models 66.
99,128 and 221 with this finish and all date
from 1941 to 1953.
This machine is all metal, solid and heavy.
Great vintage machine.
From my personal collection. Non-smoking household.
