This listing includes a beautiful vintage Marantz 4240 AM / FM Stereo / Quadradial receiver in clean and good working condition. As the photos show, this vintage receiver is still clean inside and out. The entire face and dial look great with clear lettering and sharp corners.
All of the knobs are original to this unit and are in great shape. All of the lights appear to be working and the original power cord is in great shape and is not brittle.
This receiver comes exactly as shown in the photos.
The Marantz 4240 is one of the original quadraphonic models in the 4xxx series. This model is a high-quality stereo + quadradial receiver and it incorporates the exclusive Marantz Vari-Matrix circuit, which simulates 4-channel sound from normal 2-channel stereo programs. This model is also capable of reproducing 4-channel sounds from any matrix-encoded source. In addition, this model can reproduce any discrete 4-channel program as well as regular stereo and
monaural
programs. An optional SQA-1 plug-in decoder (not included) adapts the 4240 for any specific matrix system such as Columbias SQ.
The 4240 debuted in 1974 and was on the market until 1978. This unit puts out 40 watts/channel of clean sound in stereo mode or 17 watts/channel in quad mode, using 8-ohm speakers.
