    Description

    Up for auction is a
    vintage
1960's electric 192K Singer Spartan Sewing Machine RFJ9-8
. It's been in my parent's (dry) basement for at least 40 years--it belonged to my grandmother.
    It still works though
. And by that I mean the motor works and engages the belt when you press the pedal, which moves the needle and assembly up & down.
But I know little about sewing machines and haven't tried to sew anything with it--that's way outside my skill set!--so I'm assuming that if the needle assembly (presser bar, slide plate, needle bar,
    etc.
) moves up & down, you'll be able to sew with it. Beyond that, I don't know if everything here works as it should. However, the belt seems loose to me at times and may have to be changed; there have been a few instances when the belt hasn't always engaged the balance wheel and/or motor.
As you can see in the pics, there is some wear & tear. There are scratches, blemishes, marks, chipped/missing paint,
    etc.
on it. Overall though, it seems to be in pretty decent shape for a machine about 55 years old. There are also some scratches, light rust, and missing paint on the pedal too. This is being
    SOLD AS IS
and there are no returns or refunds. It may work for another 20 years or another 20 minutes; I just don't know.
This is a solidly built and very heavy machine--they don't make them like that anymore! It
    weighs
about 30 lbs. with all the packaging and will likely be sent economy FedEx or UPS to an eBay/PayPal-verified U.S. street address only. FedEx or UPS is usually the cheapest option for heavy packages
, so I can't ship to a P.O. box (and it can take up to 1 week or more). Since shipping can be expensive,
if you have your own FedEx/UPS account with better rates than what eBay offers, feel free to provide that or a pre-paid label and I'll ship using those instead
. I do not ship internationally.
    Local pick-up
: If you're in or around the
    Boston area
    and would rather pick the
    sewing machine
up instead of paying for shipping, that can probably be arranged. Please e-mail me for details if you're interested in this option.
Payment must be made within 48 hours or I reserve the right to cancel the sale and re-list it. Thank you for looking
and please let me know--before bidding!--if you have any questions or need more pics of anything.
    I
have a 100% feedback rating so buy with confidence!
Please note that eBay may charge sales tax depending on where you live.
I have nothing to do with it and can't keep eBay from collecting it
--sorry about that. (But if you're not paying it for now, enjoy it while you can because more states are jumping onto the sales tax bandwagon!)
