Description
I have had several of these Singer Featherweight sewing machines cross my estate sale picking path over the past couple of years and this is another nice machine. I continue to be amazed at how well these machines held up over the years and even more amazed how well they were cared for. This one dates to 1949 as the United States and the world recover from the after effects of WWII. It was a considerable investment (0-200 in 1949 dollars) and this one has been well cared for. This machine is a model 221-1 and has serial number AJ109224 which means it has a commission date of March 14, 1949. It is in excellent condition, even the case is excellent with minimal wear and tear.
Details on the machine itself:
-excellent with minimal scratching on the table
-Shiny beautiful finish
-Tested & runs. Did not sew anything on it however
-Bobbin carrier in place
-Pedal works fine, and the original wiring is still in excellent pliable shape.
Details on the case:
-Excellent, I didn't find any areas that were damaged.
-The handle is a plastic handle and has some red tape from a repair tag on it, not holding the handle together.
-Latches both work fine
-Inside is clean and nice
-Keys are included which is pretty rare, they usually are lost long ago.
Details on tray & extras
-Has a couple of packages of needles
-#160985 Zig Zag attachment
-Instruction book
-Tube of lubricant
-3 bobbins
-Brush
-Several other metal brackets and attachments.
