Vintage 1911 Singer Model 66 Red Eye sewing machine, working, Free Shipping!A quick disclaimer:
We are not experts in the sewing arts. We've worked with several great old machines over the years and can do some basic cleaning, servicing and polishing... but any machine this old may need addition work, adjustment, etc. to be used on a regular basis. So PLEASE look over the pics provided, read the entire description and ask any questions you may have!
Here we have an impressive Singer Model 66 Red Eye sewing machine.
According to the serial number and a helpful website, this was made on July 18, 1911. While this has lost a lot of its original gloss, it seems to be in good mechanical condition. We've oiled it and cleaned it up. This is not a pristine machine; please see photos. Of special note is the little rubber wheel that is engaged when you go to wind a bobbin; this wheel is dry rotted and will need replaced.
Back when these were made, this was an expensive sewing machine. Singer even had a financing deal, allowing up to twenty years to pay it off. They were eventually phased out to make way for the also-impressive Singer 201.
This machine works. We threaded it, plugged it in, and produced a somewhat-ragged stitch; this is a reflection of our poor ability, not the machine. The footpedal is a bizarre button instead of the regular lever-type, but it is pressure sensitive so you have some speed control. Bonus, the light works! While it has some scratches and dings, and the decals are worn, this is a nice machine.
This is a heavy old beastie, so Shipping will be FREE and via Federal Express Ground. Local pickup available, too!
Thank you for looking!
