    Description

    This is a Model 99K-31 Singer Sewing Machine, SN EN204591.   It was manufatured on April 9, 1958, the last year the 99k was produced.
    50,000 of these machines were made at that time.  The model 99k was  produced from 1911 to 1958.  This particular machine features a reverse gear which the earlier model 99k machines did not.  Another feature of this machine is that it is 75% the size of a normal sewing machine and is considered one of the earliest portable sewing machines.  At a smaller size and only 22 pounds, it can be easily transported.  We have a similar machine which we store and transport in a soft-sided sewing machine case.
    This machine has been cleaned, oiled, and lubed.  It has a new bobbin tire, a new belt, and a new LED light bulb.   It works well and has a working light, motor, and foot pedal.  It produces impressive stitches.  These machines are considered very powerful and are used to sew delicate fabrics as well as such materials as leather and canvas.
