Welcome to the best sewing machine that Singer has ever made. Rocketeer's were well ahead of everyone else in design, and the new "slant needle" configuration, invented by Singer, made them sew with the best of the best sewing machines out there. These beauties could go stitch for stitch with Bernina, Pfaff, Necchi, Viking and any other higher end sewing machine made. Sure, they were the most expensive sewing machine Singer ever made, but if you wanted the best of the best, price and styling no object, this was the machine to get.
This one sews very well, as you can see from the swatch. I don't believe I would classify this as a beginner machine, but if you read and understand the manual, it could be. The stitches are lovely, and it has a precision when making them second to none. You can lever them down to embroidery stitching tight. Folks, they just don't make them like this anymore, all metal, gorgeous styling and superb stitching capability.
Now, when I say loaded, I mean it. Look at all of the stuff you'll get. The original accessory box full of accessories. A couple of packs of needles, oil, a new bulb, the original manual -- which I don't normally throw in, but this machine is in such good shape that if you are a collector, this is the one for you -- a box of goodies, a box of bobbins and more! You cannot go wrong with this baby, it sews as good as it looks.
To make sure it keeps sewing, I have lubed up every moving part including the motor bushings, the hook and race, and even the bobbin winder which I tested on the bobbin I used. The cord and pedal are good, and you'll literally be able to plug it in and go.
I cannot imagine anyone not loving this machine the first time they sew on it. This is Singer excellence at its finest.
