Singer 15's were the sewing machine that Singer designed as heavy duty. It was made for such things ax quilting, denim, canvas and leather. And as you can see, it lives up to its design. It sews a solid 1/4 inch leather, and it won't miss so much as a stitch doing it.
The swatches I sewed with are yellow canvas, green regular material and brown suede leather. It can handle it all, no sweat. But then again, when this machine was built, it was made for the heavy work. The direct drive motor on the back gives it a little extra ooomph.
I lubed every moving part including the entire drive train and the motor bushings. The bobbin winder works great and it sews very sweet. You'll get a full box of accessories, some bobbins and a copy of the original manual. I do not believe anyone will be disappointed in how well it sews.
Yes, the finish isn't in the best of shape, so you won't get it for its looks, but if you want a hard working leather sewing beast, this is the machine for you.
