Scott R36AS Vintage Stereo Receiver, 1974

Description

Offering up for auction is this outstanding HH Scott R36AS stereo receiver. Acquired this unit from a lady in Windsor CT who, like everyone in CT seems to be doing, downsizing and moving out of state.  Told me her husband bought it in 1975, but it's been sitting in the basement for many many years.  As you can see internally very clean, all the original pilot lights work.  As a maintenance precaution, pots have been cleaned with Deoxit and lubed with Fader. No crackling, popping or static.  Holds FM & AM without fade or drift.  All inputs and outputs operated as they should.  Tested with phono, CD and tape, all operate, no issues.  Outstanding build quality, even the control knobs are manufactured from solid billet aluminum, not plastic knobs with aluminum caps. Nice 3 sided wood case, has a few contusions and abrasions as to be expected for a 48yo piece of equipment.  Faceplate and grid cleaned.  As with any piece of equipment this old, no guarantee is offered or implied.  Listed for 9.95 back in the day.  Ships UPS or FedEx, USPS not recommended. Scott R36AS AM/Stereo FM Receiver H. H. SCOTT'S latest stereo receiver, a moderately priced unit of medium power output, is designated the Model R36S. Rated continuous power is 30 watts per channel into 8 ohms over the full range of 20 to 20,000 Hz, with less than 0.5 per cent harmonic distortion and 0.6 per cent intermodulation distortion. Signal to-noise ratios are 70 dB for the phono inputs, 80 dB for high-level inputs. FM specifications include an IHF sensitivity of 1.9 microvolts, a 2.5 -dB capture ratio, 46 dB alternate -channel selectivity, and stereo separation of 35 dB at 1,000 Hz. FM signal-to-noise ratio for 100 per cent modulation is 60 dB or better. The conservatively styled layout scheme of the R36AS's front panel provides knob controls for volume, balance, bass, treble, and input selection (Am, FM, PHONO, and EXTRA). Seven pushbutton switches control loudness compensation, mono/stereo mode, tape monitoring, FM interstation-noise muting, high - cut filter, and the two pairs of speakers that can be connected to the receiver. In addition there are signal -strength and channel -center tuning meters, and a stereo headphone jack. Rear -panel features include an unswitched a.c. convenience outlet, 300- and 75 -ohm antenna connectors, and speaker fuses for each channel.
