Description
Shack Rats are aware the STA-2080 is no longer the Super Sleeper among Radio Shack/Realistic audio offerings. The cat is out of the bag and the STA-2080 is now considered perhaps the best overall receiver Radio Shack ever created. Excellent features, plenty of power, and gorgeous looks have made it a hard to find, desirable model. The STA-2080 was the very last analog monster receiver designed by Radio Shack in 1981 and produced through 1983. Bernie Appel, the man known as "Mr. Radio Shack" who became President of the company, was especially proud of the 2080 and was quick to dispel an industry rumor Pioneer built the STA-2080 for Radio Shack. This model was built completely in house by Tandy with beautiful ergonomics and a well designed chassis allowing easy access for maintenance. The 2080 is conservatively rated at 80 WPC, has an outstanding four gang tuner, diverse filtering systems, and an excellent phono section. This is a one owner unit, very clean internally and externally. It has been serviced with the chassis, boards, pots, switches, inputs, and tuner having been cleaned and any lamps replaced. Original incandescent lamps were used as you can't improve on the original look of this gem. Cosmetically it is in very nice condition with minimal scratches and blemishes. The original replacement fuse supplied by Radio Shack is still affixed to the rear panel. A copy of the original service manual is included.Vintage audio equipment is sold as is with no warranties or returns.
