A gorgeous, RARE, and beautiful human effigy totem piece. Elsewhere, pieces such as this have been described as having ceremonial use. This piece has two notched sections which probably were used to have a cord of some material wrapped around them. These notches appear below the point, as well as below the face of the carving.
Presumably an Arctic Native culture, significant signs of age indicate an age of at least the 19th century, likely much earlier, although exact age and cultural affiliation are unknown.
A great object for study or display, this will make a nice addition to any student or appreciators collection of Native American, Alaskan, Inuit, Eskimo and other Arctic cultures art and artifacts.
Overall good condition. Significant patination. Exhibits signs of age such as surface wear and weathering. As they are part of the description, please enlarge all photographs to better ascertain details and condition.
