native american California Double Headed Phallic charmstones .found in sonoma county calif in 1955 by l.l. Valdivia . Is pictured in lar hothems book on pg 150 not sure which issue. The one with out label measures 5-1/2 inches c 1-1/4 inches wide and the one with label ix 5-1/4 inches long x 1-1/4 inches wide. There are no cracks breaks or repairs. Coast Miwok or pomo. It’s extremely rare to own one of these but to own 2 is unheard of. These are said to have reproductive quality’s and also would have been used in fertility rituals when a couple was having trouble conceiving and to bring safe passage into this world.Both are museum quality.

New information on the 5-1/2 inch one with no label was found in the 1920’s on farmland east of the sutter buttes in maidu territory and may have been traded from the Miwok or pomo peoples. This new information may shed some new light on how rare these beauty’s are found s hundred years ago and 67 years ago and just until recently became available to collectors. You may never see anymore like these for sale for a very long time.
The Miwok pomo and maidu had extensive trade routes.
The phallic type of charmstones appear to have peaked during the middle period.ca. 500 b.c. To 1,000 a.d.
Whether you live on the west coast or east coast or mid west these will be the center piece of anyones collection. They dont come any rarer than these .
