CARVER CT-17 Sonic Holography PreAmp Tuner works but not perfect original manual

Here is a great, vintage piece of kit for hi-fi enthusiasts. A Carver CT-17 Sonic Holography preamp. I have tested this to the most of my ability and most functions work, but some only intermittently. For starters, the on-off button does not always work. I have always been able to turn it on, but not always on the first attempt.
The radio tuner only works sometimes and the numbers display only sometimes. (See the pictures of it on and then off again.). The level meter doesn't seem to do much - it stays full on.
When you press the buttons to change the input or to access different surround modes, there is a difference in sound. So all the other functions work as they should. And it sounds pretty good. It sounds better running through this device than straight into a Yahama integrated amp.
So, while I can't quite say this is a perfectly working set of kit, you can not say that is 'for parts, not working'. It works, but it has some sort of issue.
