    Description

Antique Singer Featherweight Sewing Machine from 1946.
Singer scroll front sewing machine, model 221, serial #AG888926 was made in Elizabethtown, New Jersey and is dated November 22, 1946
    .
This machine had been stored under a bunch of tools in grandpa's work shed until three weeks ago, and most likely hasn't seen the light of day in decades.  I did nothing to clean, lubricate or set-up this sewing machine.  All I did to "test" it was plug it in and stitch around the hankie you see in a couple of the photos using the foot pedal.  It worked well doing that simple test.  I know this machine comes from a good home and was well cared for while in use.
But because I know nothing about the inner workings of this sewing machine and do not know how to put it through a major test -- and since I cannot guarantee its condition other than what happened when I did my simple test -- this machine is being sold as-is for parts.
1946 Singer Featherweight 221 has the fabulous scroll front plate.  Gold "Singer" lettering on working light, and on opposite side of machine are the words, "The Singer Manufacturing Co." also in gold lettering.  Machine also has embossed gold tone Singer Trade Mark emblem, and large S with "Singer Sewing Motors" written inside.
Machine comes with its original black case that has wear.  The latches still work, but the key is missing.  Tray is still in case and holds a few extra bobbins.  Handle is attached, but with the case being so heavy it is better to NOT carry the sewing machine in the case by the handle, but to carry from bottom of case.
Gold tone decorative scrolling is missing/worn in many places, and black painted body has scratches, scuffs and wear -- and could probably use a good cleaning and oiling.
Many photos show closeup details of this antique sewing machine including how it is threaded, details about the motor, condition of power cord (end is missing paper that normally hides wires inside), fabulous scrolled face plate, and dirt tucked into teeny tiny spaces.
