Item Description:  Antique LOUDEN - K221 Cast Iron Automatic Cow Cattle Drinking Cup / Water Bowl
. It measures 11" across edge to edge and 12 3/4" across bracket to edge and is 4 1/2" tall.
The cast iron shows the pieces age.  Great item to repurpose!
Invented in early 1900's by
William Louden and his pattern maker Albert Neller, the automatic watering bowl should be cupped in such a way as to fit over a man's knee.  This form had the practical purpose of neatly fitting the cow's nose as well as being easy to cleanse.
